The latest Pleatco Filter Cartridges are built with revolutionary new Reemay Filtration Media which combines 100% polyester synthetic fibers with Microban antimicrobial technology which filters out contaminants and inhibit the growth of bacteria - making sure your water is always perfectly clear, clean & pure.
Pleatco uses Microban® antimicrobial product protection to protect the filter cartridge from being a nest for bacteria, mold and algae that can cause odors and product deterioration. Pleatco Filter Cartridges are the ONLY product to harness this technology in both the MEDIA and the END CAP.
Microban® antimicrobial protection is built into products during manufacturing to provide continuous antimicrobial product protection. Microban protection can be found in hundreds of consumer, industrial and medical products around the world.
Microbes or micro-organisms are living cells that are too small to be seen with the naked eye. Microbes such as bacteria, mould and mildew can double every 20 minutes. In some cases, algae can damage product surfaces such as your swimming pool filter.
Microban penetrates the cell wall of these micro-organisms making them unable to function, grow and re-produce. Microban protection works continuously... for the lifetime of your Pleatco Premium Filter Cartridge.
1. What is Microban® antimicrobial product protection?
Microban® technology is built-in antimicrobial protection for solid products, coatings and fibers. Microban antimicrobial protection gives products an added level of protection against damaging microbes such as, bacteria, mold and mildew that can cause stains, odors and product deterioration.
2. How do products with Microban® antimicrobial protection work?
Microban® protection is built-in to the product during the manufacturing process. When microbes come in contact with the product surface, Microban protection penetrates the cell wall of the microorganism and disrupts cell functions disabling the microorganism’s ability to function, grow and reproduce.
3. What benefit do my customers get from products with Microban® antimicrobial protection?
Microban protection continuously fights the growth of damaging microbes such as, bacteria, mold and mildew that can cause stains, odors and product degradation. Microban protection makes products easier to clean and keeps them cleaner and fresher between cleanings.
4. What types of microorganisms does Microban® protection work against?
Microban® antimicrobial protection is effective against most common bacteria, yeasts, molds and fungi that cause stains, odors and product degradation. Microban technology is not designed to protect users from disease causing microorganisms.
5. How do I know that Microban® antimicrobial product protection is safe?
Microban® technology has undergone extensive independent laboratory testing and has a long history of safe use. It is registered with the EPA for all applications in which it is used. Microban additives can be found in the products of leading consumer, industrial and medical products manufacturers around the world.
6. Does Microban® protection begin working immediately?
Microban® protection begins to work as soon as the microorganism comes into contact with the product surface. It then works continuously to maintain a consistently lower bio-burden than would be expected on a product without Microban® antimicrobial protection. Under the right conditions, microbes on an untreated surface can double every 20 minutes! Microban protection is not a disinfectant, normal cleaning practices should be maintained.
7. How long does Microban® antimicrobial protection work?
Microban® protection is built-in during the manufacturing process and will not wash off or wear away. Microban protection is engineered to provide continuous antimicrobial product protection for the useful lifetime of the product.
8. Has anyone ever gotten sick from using products with Microban® antimicrobial protection?
Extensive testing and a long use history have shown Microban® product protection to be safe. While it is impossible to say that no one will ever experience an allergic reaction to anything, it is highly unlikely a negative experience would be observed. Microban additives are used in very low levels measured in parts per million.
9. Does the use of antimicrobials cause resistant strains of microorganisms?No. After more than 30 years of use in numerous consumer, industrial and medical applications around the world, there has been no evidence of resistant strain development.

USPS Shipping.
We offer USPS Priority Mail (PM) and First Class Mail (FCM) (where weight allows, FCM maximum is 13 oz) and on a few heavy items, USPS Parcel Post. USPS is the largest package handler in the world, but it is not perfect. There is not true "tracking" for USPS methods. We always get and provide to our customers Delivery Confirmation. This shows it is in route or delivered, but not much in between. Also, though USPS is normally fast (FCM and PM are 2-5 days to most of the US) there is no guarantee in delivery. And though 99% of our USPS Parcel Post shipments take less than a week, it can be longer. Those packages essentially go "standby." You get savings in shipping cost (it doesn’t matter to us, we charge you actual shipping for either USPS or UPS) but you do have to understand those tradeoffs. If you want "real" tracking or guaranteed shipping time, please use UPS over USPS. We will ship promptly, and provide tracking, but once we ship, please remember it is out of our hands. To our Canadian and overseas customers, please remember packages can be held up by customs, again, we have no control over this.
Shipping shows UPS but we may ship UPS or FedEx depending on your area to provide you with the best service possible.
